Short reflections on how somatic work can help you navigate stress and overwhelm, find freedom from stuck patterns, and build capacity and resilience.
When overwhelmed by memories and emotions related to painful experiences, the healing vortex can offer inner resources to support healing.

Changing yourself to fit what others expect, or fawning, may be your nervous system’s way of trying to keep you safe. A way of showing that it loves you.

Grief isn’t something to be processed and discarded; instead, over time your soul will grow larger to make space for that pain.

I’m a trauma-trained somatic practitioner, yoga teacher, and writer, with over 15 years of experience. Originally from New Hampshire—where I spent much of my childhood and adolescence wandering in the mountains—I now call Canada my home.
My somatic journey has taken me from guiding outdoor yoga classes on the top of a hill in Portland, Oregon, to leading yoga sessions and mindfulness hikes in rural southwestern Ontario, Canada, to using somatic work to help people live more fully, whatever that means for them. This is the same type of somatic work that enabled me to heal from decades of anxiety and depression, and later, panic attacks.
